eBusiness Life Communication Limited, a media organisation convened the 2023 edition of the International Girls in ICT Day celebration on May 11, 2023 at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

The event is part of the programmes the organisation lined up for the Girls-In-ICT campaign.

eBusiness Life Communication Limited has been driving this campaign in Nigeria since 2012. The Girls in ICT Day 2023, as always, was used as a time to groom another crop of girls in ICT, create a platform for stakeholders, which will include top government functionaries and decision makers, to interact and inform these companies of ITU programmes and visions.

A total of 131 girls were physically present at the event, however, to ensure that it reached its target audience and wider coverage, the event was streamed online through multiple channels that included Zoom, Instagram and Facebook.

As part of the event, eBusiness Life invited six (13) schools from two states. Each school was allowed to bring ten(10)student representatives, and a teacher. Students were drawn from both public and private Senior Secondary Class 1 an equivalent of Grade 10. The essence of sensitising students from this class is because that is when they start taking a decision on their career path. 

With the theme, “Digital Skills For Life”, the event featured TikTok Video Competition among participating schools; quiz competition, Roundtable discussion by students. For the TikTok Competition the students were asked to Create A Grass To Grace Content Video Using Tiktok Features About Any Successful Woman In ICT/Tech Of Your Choice.

While the roundtable discussion involved the students discussing “ Based On This Year’s Theme “Digital Skills For Life,” What Are The Opportunities Open For A Young Girl To Obtain Digital Skills.”

Others present at the event included journalists, government officials, partner company representatives and other invited guests. Chief among the partners is the nation’s telecom regulatory body, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
